Design/Makeover House Games for Girls

Forget the video games, computer games and TV the next time your little girl has her friends over. Birthday parties, sleepovers and even rainy Sundays can become a chance to build friendships, be creative and play, if you know a good design or makeover game that they can play at home. Even babysitters will benefit from having a few girl games up their sleeve.
  1. Makeover

    • Choose makeups that come in fun colors and made specifically for a child's sensitive skin.

Makeovers can be a subtle activity or an all-day event. Younger girls will enjoy giving and receiving manicures or pedicures, while older girls can run an entire home spa. Find recipes online for homemade facial masks, exfoliating scrubs and moisturizer. With a few simple ingredients and some small plastic pots, the girls can customize their own flavor of lip balm to take home. Finish with a lesson in makeup artistry. Make up one side of each girl's face and let them try to replicate the look on the other side of their face.

    Dress Up

    • Girls can use their own dress-up collections or fashion new outfits using everyday materials.

Let each girl have a turn at choosing their favorite celebrity as inspiration for a makeover. The other girls then have to dress and make up that girl in the style of their chosen celebrity, including options for a day look and a red carpet look. Take it a step further and have them reenact a scene from a movie or a music video that stars their look-alike celebrity.

    Design

    • Have each girl draw out their creation before they start to build it.

Start with having the girls draw a design or paste together a fashion collage. Have each girl choose one design and ask them to re-create it on themselves using dress-up clothes, scrap material or any other crafting supplies. Once everyone is wearing their design, turn on some music and have the girls show off their couture creations. Film or photograph the fashion parade so each girl can take home a souvenir of their trip down the runway.

    Dream Room Design

    • Have the girls create their dream room on paper, using colored pencils, markers or magazine images. Older girls can use their math skills to create a scaled drawing of the furniture and features they would include in their dream room. Use paper craft techniques, such as origami and decoupage to create room decorations and accessories that each girl can keep.
