How to Design Your Own Salon Games

Look in beauty and fashion magazines for photos of celebrities or models with makeup which match your game theme and cut them out. For vintage looks it may be easier to find images from the Internet and download them and print them out (in color).

Cut out and glue the images onto separate stiff cards. For games where all guests will be aiming for a beauty look from the same era, have the card feature just a single large image of a model or star in that style. For games where guests will all be attempting different looks, have the card feature several images illustrating a particular beauty style.

Establish what achievements guests will be judged on or receive prizes for, such as most professional finish, most outrageous look, or speediest styling. Write down the rules on different sheets of paper and hand them to guests along with the style cards.

Use the cards as inspiration for different salon games. Have guests do their own hair and makeup, or divide them into pairs and ask them to do each other. Give each individual or pair their own style or theme, or have all guests aim for a similar look. Tell guests in advance of the theme, or add a costume challenge to the games.
