Graduation Night Party Projects

Graduating from school, whether it be high school or college, can be an emotionally challenging event with positive aspects as well as feelings of sadness. Use the graduation party to work on one last project as school mates and create a few more school memories. The results of the project could benefit future students of the school or serve as sources of inspiration and nostalgia for the graduating class.
  1. Book for Freshmen

    • Distribute scrapbook pages to each party guest and instruct them to fill the page with messages and advice for the school's incoming freshmen. The pages can be as silly, humorous or as serious as the designer desires. The pages can contain tips on senior prank ideas and which classes to never skip. The page can also relay the sentiments the graduating senior feels on leaving the school behind, which could be a source of encouragement for a nervous, incoming freshmen class. Collect all the pages, photocopy them, and assemble them into books. Distribute the books to freshmen during orientation or on the first day of school.

    Memento

    • Place the name of every guest of the graduation party into a jar and have each guest choose a name. Instruct the group to craft a letter to the person they chose that relays a treasured memory of them or a hope for them for the future. Provide art supplies such as markers, glitter and stickers so the students can be as creative on their pages as they desire. Distribute the pages to their recipients at the conclusion of the party as a treasured memento of graduation and their time at the school.

    Time Capsule

    • Instruct every guest to the graduation party to bring a small item, trinket or letter that reminds them of their experience at school. Place all the items into an airtight container and mark it with a date for the container to be opened. For example, choose the date of the 20 year reunion of the graduating class. Choose a marked spot to bury the time capsule or choose a storage room or basement of the school for safe keeping.

    Video

    • Interview each party guest about their feelings on graduation and their reflections on their time in school. Ask each student about their goals for the future and where they hope to be in 20 years. Tell them to relay a message for their 20-year-older self. Play games like charades or sing songs in karaoke at the party and film the festivities and activities. Store the recording in a safe and secure place, like the school library. Play the video at the reunions of the class.
