Fun Motivation Games

People are often tasked with difficult assignments, be they related to school or the workplace. At times, for whatever reasons, individuals may not be fully motivated to complete the tasks. Motivational games can be used to raise the spirits of participants, increasing their likelihoods of achieving success. Motivational team games in particular bolster the emotional connections developed between group members while providing the players with an influx of enthusiasm toward an impending assignment.
  1. Trust

    • "Trust" is a motivational game that builds the trust levels of all of the participants. In order to play the game, the group must be divided into pairs. Direct one member of each pair to turn her back to her partner. After revealing a personal statement, that person then places her arms around her chest and falls backwards. It is up to her partner to catch her. This game increases feelings of trust among individuals, as the players have to trust another person both with sensitive information and their physical well-being.

    Four Facts

    • "Four Facts" is a motivational game that strengthens the relationship between all members of the group. In this game, each member writes down three correct facts about himself, as well as one lie. Each person will take turns reading his entire list. The other members of the group must write down which fact they believe is a lie. After each person has read his list, ask the members to identify their incorrect facts. "Four Facts" allows players to learn about their group members more intimately, while strengthening trust and confidence in each other.

    Human Knot

    • "Human Knot" is a game that builds confidence in each group member's ability to approach and conquer complex situations. In this game, a group of people stand in a circle with their hands in the middle. Everyone in the circle must grab another person's hand with their hands. The group is prohibited from grabbing the hands of the person directly next to each other, or grasping both hands of a single individual. After everyone has grabbed each other's hands, the group must untangle the knot without releasing their bonds by reconfiguring their arms and bodies. This game motivates groups to work together to solve difficult problems that they cannot handle themselves.

    Positive Reinforcement Card Game

    • The "Positive Reinforcement" game rewards positive behavior throughout the day. Using traditional playing cards, a designated team leader gifts cards to individuals whenever they view or hear of positive behavior. For example, when someone arrives on time, does well on an assignment or answers a difficult question, she can receive a playing card. At the end of the day, each player reviews their cards with the team leader. Whomever has the best card combination using poker rules receives a small gift. This game motivates the group to work as hard as they are capable of.
