Barbie Makeover
Purchase a Barbie doll for each girl playing the game. Set each girl and her doll up at a dream doll designing station, complete with markers, washable hair dye, scissors, stickers, doll accessories and doll outfits. Set a time frame, such as 30 minutes, to complete the project. During that time, the girls can alter the dolls to their specifications by cutting the doll's hair, dying, changing the style, adding makeup to her face and changing her clothes. At the end of the time frame, have each girl walk her doll down a runway area to model her finished look. Vote to declare winners in a variety of categories, such as "best dressed," "most stylish," and "most original."
Magazine Clippings
Provide each girl with a stack of doll brochures, catalogs and magazines. Give each girl markers, scissors, a glue stick and a piece of construction paper. Instruct the girls to flip through the magazines and cut out different elements of dolls that they like, such as hair, eyes or clothes. The girls then glue their cut-out pieces onto the construction paper to assemble a whole doll. Any elements a girl cannot find in the magazine, such as dream doll accessories, she can draw onto the paper with markers. Cast ballots to choose the best magazine cut-out doll.
Homemade Paper Doll
Provide the girls with a template or stencil to draw the basic outline of a doll. Provide her with construction paper, pencils, markers and scissors. Instruct the girls to draw faces on the doll template, but nothing else. They will draw and cut out all other aspects of the doll on the construction paper, such as clothes, hair and accessories. They can draw as many different types of outfits and hair as desired. At the end of the game, instruct them to dress their dolls in their favorite ensembles and present each doll on the runway. Score the paper dolls to choose the favorite.
Real Life Dolls
Break the group of girls into pairs to play the game. Choose one girl to be the doll and the other to be the designer. Equip each team with makeup, wigs, hair styling tools and a costume closet to create its dream doll. Set an allotted time for designing, such as 60 minutes, and instruct the girls to transform their partners into dream dolls with the tools allowed. At the end of the hour, the partners will switch tasks and the newly made over doll partner will now transform her partner into her favorite doll. At the end of the second hour, present each doll pair and vote to choose winners in a variety of categories. Categories can include "most doll-like," "most unique," and "most beautiful."
