Pin the Tail on the Donkey
Find a large poster of a donkey or draw one to hang on the wall. Draw donkey tails and write each party guest's name on a tail, and put double-sided tape on the back of it. Blindfold each guest with a bandanna and spin him three times. Tell him to try to pin the tail on the donkey. The player who pins the tail closest to the correct spot wins a prize. "Pin the Tail on the Donkey" game kits are also available online and at many retail stores.
Musical Chairs
Place several chairs in a line with the chairs facing in alternate directions. Put out one less chair than you have players. Have the players stand around the chairs, then start to play music. While the music is playing, the players must walk in a circle around the chairs. As soon as the music stops, the players must find a chair and sit down. The player left without a chair is out of the game. Remove a chair and keep playing. The last player to sit when the music stops wins the game.
Hide and Seek
Play a game of hide and seek outside where there is plenty of room to run. Name a "safe base," such as a patio or tree where players can run to be "safe." The birthday child is "it" first. Have him count to 100 while the other players run and hide. After he counts, he will yell, "Ready or not, here I come," and begin looking for the players. If a player makes it back to the "safe base" without "it" tagging him, he is safe. If "it" tags a player, he is the new "it" for the next game.
Duck, Duck, Goose
All players must sit in a circle on the ground to play "Duck, Duck, Goose." Select a guest to go first and have her walk around the circle while patting players on the head saying, "Duck," "Duck," "Duck," as she touches each person's head. When she touches a player's head and says "Goose," that player must get up and chase "it" around the circle. If she catches "it" before she sits back in that player's spot, then that player has to be "it" again. If "it" does not catch her, she is the new "it."
