Pirate Beanbag Toss
Paint a cardboard box to resemble a treasure chest or use a real one if you have it. Leave the lid off the chest and mark a standing line about 10 to 15 feet from the chest. Draw gold coins on yellow beanbags so they look like piles of "gold." Give each player five beanbags to try to toss in the treasure chest. Award every child who makes at least one beanbag a small prize, such as an eye patch, pirate tattoos, chocolate gold coins, a plastic sword or pirate stickers.
Pin the Parrot on the Pirate
Draw or purchase a large poster of a pirate and hang it on the wall. Print or draw several parrots and write a player's name on each one. Draw an outline of where the parrot should be placed on the pirate's shoulder. Place double-sided tape on the back of each parrot. One at a time, blindfold each player and spin him three times. Tell him to try to pin the parrot on the pirate's shoulder. The player who pins the parrot closest to the correct spot wins the game.
Plank Walking
Create a plank by laying two or three skinny wood boards on top of one another. The children will line up and begin to "walk the plank." Any player who makes it to the other end without falling off will earn a prize. For older children, make plank-walking harder by telling them to walk backwards or hop on one foot down the plank. Do not stack the boards too tall, as this will create a safety hazard when the players fall off.
Treasure Hunt
Make a treasure hunt by hiding several pirate-themed items around the party area. Hide items like eye patches, plastic gold coins, plastic toy parrots, plastic jewels, miniature toy telescopes and black bandannas. Give each player a pirate favor bag and let him "hunt" for hidden treasures. All the treasures he finds, he can keep to take home as party favors. Mark an "X" on one of the gold coins and award a large prize, such as a plush pirate or parrot, to the person who finds it.
