Things You'll Need
Instructions
Mail out hockey-themed invitations to the members of the hockey team. Beyond merely informing the participants of the date and time of the event, the invites serve to pump them up for the competition.
Brainstorm hockey-related items --- or items that have to do with the specific team and its members --- for the participants to collect throughout the scavenger hunt. These items could include a hockey puck, a hockey stick or a hockey goalie's glove. Something more specific to the team could include a hamburger from the players' favorite after-practice meeting spot. If the team has any inside jokes, try to work that into the scavenger hunt by adding a related item to the list.
Create identical lists of all the items so each team can have one for the hunt. Make the lists on thick paper, and if you suspect it might rain during the event, laminate them or place them in clear plastic bags.
Divide the players into evenly matched teams, according to cleverness and fitness ability. To make the scavenger hunt more exciting, provide different-colored shirts or face paints to distinguish the teams. Ask the teams to come up with a team name and a cheer to help pump them up for the competition.
Provide each team with a bag for collecting the items, a watch to keep track of the time limit (which should be one to two hours) and a pen to check off the items they've collected.
Award the winning team a prize and provide the losing team or teams with something of slightly less value. Rewarding all teams for participating keeps spirits up for the remainder of the party.
