Name That Movie
Some movie lines are so famous they're used in everyday conversation. For example, people often say, "I've a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore"--spoken by Dorothy in "The Wizard of Oz"--when they find themselves in a strange place and/or situation. See how well your friends and family know their movies by playing a game of Name That Movie. Each person picks a movie quote, then recites it to the group to see who can guess the line's movie. For a more advanced game, have participants guess which character in the movie said the line. You can even take it one step further by asking the name of the actor who played the character.
Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon
Pop-culture legend holds that you can connect Kevin Bacon to everyone in Hollywood in six "degrees" or less. Invented by college students at Albright College, the game concerns the actor and his cinematic ties to everyone else in Hollywood. The goal is to connect another actor to Kevin Bacon in as few degrees as possible. For example, Jude Law was in "Closer" with Julia Roberts, who was in "Flatliners" with Kevin Bacon. Of course, you can adapt the game to any other ubiquitous Hollywood actor, such as Meryl Streep or Tom Cruise, as the focal point.
Celebrity Gossip
For all its glitz and glamor, Hollywood is equally known for its many scandals and confrontations with the law. See how well trivia players know their Hollywood dirt with a game of celebrity gossip. Name a crime and see how many Hollywood stars the players can match to it. For example, ask the players to name 10 Hollywood actresses arrested for drugs. Name a scandal and see who can tie the right celeb to it. For example, "Which actor was caught with a transgender prostitute in his car in 1997?" Answer: Eddie Murphy.
