Bible Carnival Games

A church carnival provides a place for parishioners to gather in a social atmosphere to support the church. Children of the church can enjoy playing various games as they compete for prizes. Almost any regular carnival game can be transformed into a Bible-themed game with a bit of advanced preparation.
  1. Feed Noah's Animals

    • For a variation on a beanbag toss, create a game to feed Noah's animals. Cut several holes into a plywood board. These will serve as the animals' mouths. Paint pictures of the animals around the holes. Add the ark in the background. To play, try to toss the beanbags into the mouths. For an added challenge, give point values to each animal.

    Wall of Jericho

    • Turn a can knockdown game into a Bible-themed game by creating a "wall" with the cans. Paint some aluminum cans with a stone pattern to represent the walls of Jericho. Line up four cans next to each other, and stack three cans on top of each. Mark a line on the ground where players stand. Each player gets three tennis balls to throw to try to knock down the entire wall.

    Bible Verse Duck Pond

    • The duck pond game is a classic carnival activity with players choosing among rubber ducks floating in a wading pool. Make the game biblically based by placing Bible verses on the bottom of each duck instead of numbers. Gather 24 rubber ducks, and choose three Bible verses to correspond to one of three prizes. For the largest prize, write the corresponding verse on six of the ducks. Write the verse for the medium-sized prize on eight ducks and the verse for the smallest prize on the rest. Each player chooses one duck and wins the prize that matches the Bible verse.

    Crown Toss

    • Ring tosses are easy to create and provide a challenging task for carnival attendees. Arrange 24 to 36 small crosses on a table. If you can secure the crosses upright, that's best, but laying them flat and securing them with tape will work if your rings are big enough. Turn the rings into crowns by painting them gold. Each player gets five crowns and attempts to toss them around the crosses. The more that land around the crosses, the bigger the prize.
