The Name Game
Play the Name Game by getting your guests together in a circle. Have the first person give her name and a fact about herself, such as "My name is Julie, and I love dolphins." The next person repeats the first person's name and fact and then gives his name and a fact. The game circles the room, with each person at the party repeating the name and fact of all the players before them. Players who make mistakes are "out." Alternatively, ask players to give their name and an interesting fact about the birthday guy or girl.
The Yearbook Game
Before the birthday party, ask guests to send you a scanned copy of their high school yearbook photo or another photo of themselves in high school. Copy the photos on multiple sheets of paper, or create a mock yearbook by lining up the photos in rows and columns. At the party, divide the players into teams and ask the teams to correctly identify each person at the party by her yearbook photo. The team that correctly identifies the most photos wins.
The Decade Game
For the Decade Game, gather photos of products relating to the last 40 years. Use major fad items from the decades, including popular toys or fashions. Divide the players into small groups and show the groups your images. Give the teams a piece of paper with each of the decades written on it. Have teams list the items by decade. Alternatively, use the actual products, if you have them on hand or if you can find them.
