Truth or Dare
Truth or Dare is a game enjoyed by both teen and preteen girls. Truth questions are simple questions that may stretch a girl's personality to answer, such as "have you ever kissed a boy?" Dares are often silly acts, like making her eat some strange concoction put together from ingredients already on hand (for example, flavored gelatin mixed with corn flakes). Questions (truths) and activities (dares) are written on slips of paper, which are then folded in half and put in separate jars. To keep the game from getting out of hand, a parent should help come up with the truths and dares.
The sleepover host starts the game by asking another girl "truth or dare"? If the girl picks truth, she must select a slip of paper out of the "truth jar" and truthfully answer the question written on the paper. If she selects dare, the girl must select a slip of paper from the "dare jar" and execute the (sometimes embarrassing) dare. Once she completes her turn, she selects the next person to be asked "truth or dare?"
Light as a Feather, Stiff as a Board
Teens, especially girls, love to play Light as a Feather, Stiff as a Board, an interesting indoor game that is said to have been played since the 17th century.
Pick one girl to play the "victim" and have her lie flat on the floor, while the other partygoers gather around and place their fingers under her body. One girl volunteers to be the "teller of tales" and places her hands under the victim's head. Two other girls each place their fingers under her shoulders, two more place their fingers at her waist, two girls place their fingers under her knees and two more place their hands under her feet.
The "teller of tales" sets the mood, dims the lights and calls for absolute quiet. She then, in a very calm, quiet voice, talks to the girl on the floor, encouraging her to be very relaxed and calls upon her to begin relaxing each part of her body from head to feet. Once the victim is relaxed, all the partygoers start quietly chanting "light as a feather, stiff as a board" repeatedly while they attempt to levitate the victim high into the air. Does it work? It depends on whom you ask, but most girls will tell you it certainly does.
Dance Until You Drop Contest
Girls love to dance, and playing a version of an old-fashioned sock hop "dance 'til you drop" contest is a fun game for any party.
Load a CD player with as much music as it will hold; if possible, set it to shuffle to randomize the order in which songs are played. Invite everyone onto the dance floor and start the music. Play music continually until only one girl remains on the dance floor, and declare her the winner.
If not enough girls are dropping out, ask them to perform specific dances, like the Charleston, or play super fast music to tire them out more quickly, You can also merge the activity with a "who is the best dancer" contest and have those girls that have already dropped out judge those that remain to further eliminate girls, until you are down to one girl as the winner.
