Board Games for a Sleepover

Hosting a slumber party might make you a little nervous, if only because you envision dozens of girls running through your home. This is more likely to happen if you aren't prepared for the event. Even small games or ideas, like letting the girls give each other makeovers or bake cookies, help keep the girls satisfied and happy. Board games are another idea that many parents find useful.

Oversized Board Games
- Birthday Party Ideas 4 Kids suggests making oversized board games for your slumber party guests. You only need a few things, including cardboard or poster board and markers. Use one sheet of poster board to create the board for the game and use other pieces to make the individual player pieces and other items needed for the game. Transfer your favorite game onto the poster board. For example, if you're making an oversized Scrabble game, use pieces of poster board to create the larger size tiles and another sheet to make the actual playing board. You can even let the girls make their own board game when they get to the party and take turns trying the different games.
Makeup Spinner
- Make your own board game with two spinners from another board game. Alternatively, make your own spinner with a paper clip and a circle of construction paper. Buy nail polish, lipstick, eyeshadow, blush and other types of makeup, all in different and unexpected colors. Look for colors like blue, green and purple. Write the names of the makeup on one spinner and the colors on the other spinner. The girl spins one game piece to determine the color needed and then spins the other to determine the type of makeup. Each girl takes turns, putting on the makeup they get with the spinners.
Board Games
- Include a note inside each invitation asking the girls to bring along their favorite board game. Place your own games in the living room or the main room of the party. Give the girls a number of options, including games based on Twilight, Mall Madness, Truth or Dare and other popular games. Make sure that the games are appropriate for their age range. The girls may want to break into smaller groups and play different games.
