Fun Trivia Games for Family Gatherings

Family gatherings can become a hum-drum experience once conversation runs thin. Help cure awkward silences by providing hours of entertainment with awesome trivia games that all of your family members and friends can get in on.
  1. Scene It?

    • Scene It? games offer thousands of movie and pop culture questions.

Scene It? is a movie trivia game that consists of a game board, trivia questions on cards and a DVD that also contains interactive questions and challenges. The game can be played with any amount of players because the game encourages team play. Each team has a game piece that they use to move around the spaces on the game board. Spaces indicate which category they will be asked a question from. The team that answers the "Final Cut" question--the last question on the game board--correctly first wins the game.

Scene It? currently offers a variety of trivia games such as The Simpsons Scene-It?, Seinfeld Scene It?, and Twilight Scene It?. Scene It? games currently retail between $19.99 and $49.99, depending on the title.

    Trivial Pursuit: Family Edition

    • Trivial Pursuit is a classic trivia game that has been around since the 1980s. Players answer popular culture questions in an effort to navigate around a game board. The player who reaches the end first wins. The game has spawned numerous versions since its original release. One such release is Trivial Pursuit: Family Edition. This edition plays out in the similar fashion of the original but offers up specially made "kid questions" cards for younger children to answer. This makes it appropriate for your family gathering.

Hasbro, the game&'s creator, suggests the game be sold by retailers for $26.99.

    Outburst

    • Yelling is encouraged during Outburst games.

Outburst is a team-orientated trivia game. The game plays similar to the game show "Family Feud." Each game begins with two teams. Each team draws a topic card and places it into the plastic holder, which conceals the answers. Each topic has multiple answers. For example, a topic could be "Top 10 Brands of Cereal." A minute timer begins, and the players must yell out possible answers to the topic. Players earn points based on each correct answer, and the teams take turns with different topic cards. The first team to 60 points wins the game.

Outburst has developed updated and alternate versions of the game named Outburst 2, Outburst Remix, Outburst Junior, Ultimate Outburst and Outburst Bible Edition. All of these games once carried or currently carried a retail price of $29.99.
