Board Games
Although games such as Monopoly and Candyland may come to mind when thinking of board games, there are many alternatives that will interest adult party guests.
Video-based trivia games are one option. These games use a DVD along with an actual board. The DVD is used to show clips from a television show or movie, then questions are asked about the clip. Guests can play in teams or as individuals. You can also look for those trivia game versions that do not employ the use of DVDs. These require only the board and cards from which you read to ask the trivia questions.
The at-home versions of Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune are examples of other popular board games.
Drinking Games
Drinking games will usually find favor with adult guests, as well. They are usually played with alcoholic-based drinks, such as beer or shots; however, they can be played with non-alcoholic beverages, if preferred.
With card games, such as poker or even bridge, instead of bidding on these games with money or chips, bid a number of drinks. If you win, the other player takes the drinks. If you lose, you take the drinks.
Another option is the name game. While watching a TV show or movie, players take a drink every time a character’s name is said aloud.
Video Games
Although video games may be associated with young children and teenagers, they can be equally as exciting for adults. The Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii, and Playstation 3 offer a number of games that can be enjoyed by a group of adults, such as Guitar Hero or Rock Band. Using instrument-like controllers and microphones, four players at a time can sing and play popular music to score points. These games come in a number of music genres and band-specific titles.
