Pink Balloon Toss
Celebrate her feminine side with a pink balloon toss. Before the girls get together, fill two plastic tubs with water balloons. Pick pink balloons or balloons in a favorite color. Divide the girls into two teams and assign each team to an area of the yard. Give teams a bucket of balloons and let the water bombs fly. This is an entertaining outdoor game for warm weather days. For more fun, ask girls to bring their goggles so they can look goofy while protecting their eyes from a direct hit.
Mother May I?
This game is good for outdoor play or indoor if you have a large area to play in. Children should line up facing the girl who you have designated as “it,” behind the starting line. The starting line should be at least ten to twenty feet away from the leader or “it” girl. The “it” girl gives commands to the children facing her. The goal of this game for the players is to reach “it” and tag her first. The goal of the “it” girl is to prolong the game as long as possible. The leader gives commands like “Susie, take 10 baby steps.” Susie responds by saying, “Mother may I?” before taking her allotted steps. If she forgets to ask permission first, then she must start at over at the starting line. The leader continues to give commands until someone tags her. The tagger becomes the new “It” and the game continues until everyone is tired of playing.
Gossip Game
This game is the ideal parlor game. The girls should sit on the floor in a circle. The kids play this game by one girl whispering a sentence into the next girl’s ear. Each girl around the circle whispers this secret until it reaches the last girl. The last girl tells the sentence to the group. The sentence will probably be close to the original, but not the same. Each girl repeats the sentence only once to the next girl. If the hearer is not sure what the sentence is, she must make one up.
