Blind Man’s Bluff
This classic party game requires blindfolds for one participant and an open space. Place a blindfold on a player who is designated “it” and spin the child around a few times to disorient him. Have the other kids gather around him and then tell them to "go." The blindfolded player must try to tag one of the other kids. If he is successful, he can make the other player “it” by identifying who it is by feeling the tagged player’s face and hair. Make sure to remind rowdy boys or girls that the blindfolded person should take it easy when tagging to avoid accidental kicks or punches.
Make ‘Em Laugh
Have one child sit in a chair in the middle of the room. Take out a stopwatch and begin timing. Each child has 30 seconds to try to get the child in the center to laugh without touching him. If there has been no laughter after 30 seconds, switch to another child who will attempt to get the center child to laugh. After a child laughs, stop the watch and record the time. The child who can hold out the longest without laughing is the winner and should receive a special prize.
Water Relay
This game requires an outdoor environment on a warm spring or summer day. You will also need a bucket for each team, a large sponge per team and an empty one gallon plastic jug per team. Divide your group as best you can into teams of five or six kids each. Each group lines up behind one of the buckets full of water and a sponge. About 15 feet in front of each line is the plastic jug. The game works like a relay as the first player from each line runs with the sponge to the plastic jar. That player squeezes the sponge into it and then runs back, handing the sponge to the next player. The first team to fill the jug wins.
Egg and Spoon Race
This game can work with eggs, potatoes or ping pong balls, though eggs that aren’t hard-boiled shouldn’t be used indoors. Similar to the water relay, this game requires that you divide your party into several groups and line them up. Each group has a spoon and an egg (or one of the other items). The first player from each group places the egg on the spoon and has to walk to a line about 15 feet out and then back. If the egg falls, he must place it back on the spoon. He then hands the spoon and egg to the next player. The first team to have their last player come back and forth with the egg is the winner.
