Things You'll Need
Instructions
Design your Ouija board. Be creative during this process, yet mindful of what the Ouija board needs to contain. On a piece of paper that will be the surface of the Ouija board, write the letters of the alphabet: A through M across the middle, then N through Z directly below that. Write the word "yes" in the top left corner and the word "no" in the top right corner. Write the numbers 0 to 9 across the bottom, placing the word "goodbye" directly under them (see References 2 for a visual representation). For decoration ideas, Ouija boards may feature ghostly faces, along with moon and star symbols. You do have the freedom, of course, to be completely original. The decoration of your board is not likely to affect its function.
Glue the paper that is the face of the Ouija board to a piece of cardboard. This is to create stable reinforcement for your board. Cut around the cardboard if it is bigger than the piece of paper, until it is flush with the paper's edges.
Purchase a small magnifying glass, which will act as the planchette. The planchette is the little plank you will rest your hands on when using the Ouija board. It will move to spell out words or indicate numbers. Also it will move over the "yes," "no," and "goodbye" sections of the board. Magnifying glasses can be purchased at most retail stores, or at an online store such as Amazon.com. Decorating can be done with markers or paint and dyes. In keeping with the mystique of the Ouija board, dark colors and circular patterns could work well.
