Superman Party Games

Ever since the Superman comics debuted in 1938, the Man of Steel has captivated the imaginations of many---young and old alike. Whether you have a child's birthday party coming up or a themed get-together among your adult friends, playing some Superman-inspired party games can give everyone a laugh.
  1. Lex Luthor on the Loose

    • Take on the character of Lex Luthor, Superman's arch-nemesis, with this party game from the website, Kids Birthday Party Guide, www.kids-birthday-party-guide.com. Out of your group of party guests, pick one player to become Superman and one to become Lex Luthor. For an added challenge, pick another player to become Kryptonite, the only thing that can kill Superman. The rest of the guests play the citizens of Metropolis. During the game, Lex Luthor tries to tag as many of the citizens as he can. Whenever a citizen gets tagged by Luthor, she has to make her way to a holding zone in the play area, and cannot move from that area until Superman tags Luthor. To give Superman an advantage, give him some small balls that he can throw at Luthor to tag him. If Lex Luthor tags all of the players before Superman tags Luthor, Lex Luthor wins. Meanwhile, Kryptonite tries to tag Superman. If Superman gets tagged by Kryptonite before he hits Lex Luthor with a ball, Superman loses. Continue playing by switching the players into the roles of Superman, Kryptonite and Lex Luthor.

    Superman Who Am I?

    • If you have a group of Superman enthusiasts coming to your party, play this fitting party game from the website, Amazing Moms, www.amazingmoms.com. Prepare by writing down the names of Superman characters on separate index cards so that you write each name on a different card. For another variation, write down other Superman-related things, like places, objects and even comic book titles for your more extreme fans. Place each index card on a different player's forehead, making sure that they don't see the name written on their cards. Have the players mingle and ask each other yes or no questions to figure out what character's written on their cards. Some sample questions include, "Do I fly?" and "Do I work as a reporter?" Play until everyone has figured out their characters, and give a prize to the person who figured her character out the fastest.

    Find the Kryptonite

    • Prepare for the game by either purchasing some green glow sticks or painting some balls bright green to serve as the pieces of Kryptonite, according to the website, The Best Birthday, www.thebestbirthday.com. Paint one extra ball red to serve as a different type of kryptonite. Hide all of the balls in a play area before your guests arrive. Start the game by giving each of the players a pair of oven mitts to put on their hands. On the count of three, each player has to find as many Kryptonite pieces as he can and place them in a personal toxic waste bucket you can decorate before the party begins. If a player finds the red kryptonite ball, he gets to take all of the balls from one person's bucket to add to his own since red kryptonite leads Superman to become amoral. The person with the most Kryptonite at the end of the game wins.
