Unique Sneakers
Painting sneakers is a creative way for teens to express their individual style. You need a pair of basic white, or off-white, canvas sneakers, fabric paint for the canvas, and permanent markers for the rubber soles. Teens usually create their own designs, but inspire them with different fabrics, such as animal print, as a starting point in their design.
Bandanna Purse
Bandanna purses are easy for your teens to create at their next party. You need two bandannas to make one bag. Sew the bandannas together on three sides, with the designs facing out. In the remaining closed side, cut small holes about an inch apart, then loop ribbon through the holes to cinch your bag shut. You can also sew straps on them to make a backpack.
Friendship Bracelets
Friendship bracelets are an age-old tradition that teenagers create to express their friendship with one another, and they make fashionable accessories. You need various colors of thick thread or yarn. Braid varying colors together and tie off the bracelet, either on your wrist or the wrist of a good friend.
CD Clocks
Using old CDs that you would ordinarily throw away, have your teen paint the CDs with acrylic latex paint. Head to your local hardware store and buy some simple clock kits. Instead of using the backing that comes in your clock kit, simply replace it with a painted CD, and you have a clock made of recycled materials.
Back-to-School Book Covers
For a back-to-school teen party, make book covers for your teen's new textbooks. You need large brown bags, and a variety of markers and colored pencils. Cut paper bags open and cover the textbook covers with them, taping the bag on the inside. Then your teen colors her new book cover to her liking, making sure to mark the name of the book somewhere on the cover.
Tie-Dye Fun
A tie-dye party gives your teen a chance to add funky accents to his clothing. Head to your local crafts store and purchase a tie-dye kit. Have teens bring over plain white articles of clothing and follow instructions to make various tie-dye designs. It's best to tie-dye outside, to avoid staining indoor furniture or carpets.
