Housewarming Party Ideas & Games

Once you have settled into your new home you may want to show it off to friends and family as well as meet your new neighbors by hosting a housewarming party. Housewarming parties tend to be a bit stuffy, but yours doesn't have to be. Plan a few fun housewarming games to make the party a hit with your guests.
  1. Housewarming Gift Game

    • This is a fun idea if someone other than you is planning your housewarming party. Have the party planner list a gift theme on the invitations. The theme can incorporate things such as colors or accessories for different rooms in the house. When guests arrive, let them walk around your house and select the perfect place for their gift. Your guests get to see your new house and have a hand in decorating it and you get presents.

    Rotating Tour Guide

    • Guests usually arrive at different times, so instead of you constantly giving the house tour, have your guests help. After you give the first tour, choose someone to give the tour whenever new guests arrive. This gives you a break from continuously having to give the tour and makes it fun for guests to show off your new house.

    New Town Trivia

    • If you've moved to a different town or state, play a trivia game with your guests so you can get to know them and the new area you live in. Compile a list of questions about the area and have a tournament. Guests will have fun trying to show who knows the most about where they live.

    Scavenger Hunt

    • If you plan on giving your guests something, such as a party favor, hide the items and hold a scavenger hunt. Give your guests clues bout where their gifts are located and have them go around your house, inside and outside, to find their them.
