How to Fold Raffle Tickets

To coincide with many school field days, fund-raisers and sporting events, often one way to raise money is to hold a raffle. While some tickets are simply numbered, other times a raffle ticket is also used to collect information about the people at the event, such as names, addresses and phone numbers, to form a mailing list or make sales calls following the event. In the spirit of fairness, however, it's important to fold raffle tickets before they are placed in a box or bin so each ticket has an equal chance of being pulled for a prize.

Instructions

    • 1

Have each participant turn in his raffle ticket to you flat when he pays for it. While some people may believe folding it only once will increase their chances of winning, if they hand them to you unfolded, you have full control of the raffle.

    • 2

Turn the ticket so that any written information is facing up. Fold the ticket in half widthwise to conceal the information inside the ticket.

    • 3

Rotate the ticket so the folded edge is facing you and then fold the ticket widthwise once more. This final size of ticket should be one fourth the size of a flat raffle ticket.

    • 4

Tape the ticket shut with a small strip of tape along one of the open edges if the information on the ticket is personal information (phone numbers, addresses, etc.). You can also tape the tickets if you anticipate having a lot of tickets and the bin you have to hold them is small.
