Describe Me
To get your guests to talk to each other when the party first starts, break the ice with this game from Party411.com. When your guests arrive, give them each a pen and tape one blank index card to each of their backs. Instruct them to start mingling with the other guests and write on each card a short phrase or sentence that describes their first impressions of them. You can write anything from "Nice smile" to "Silly and spontaneous." After everyone has introduced themselves and written something on all of the party guests' cards, gather them in a circle and have each person read their index cards aloud to give everyone a laugh.
Dress-Up Relay
For a group of people who enjoy a bit of silliness, Party 411.com offers the game, Dress-Up Relay. Before your guests arrive, look through your closet to find some clothing items that can be worn over your guests' clothes. Such items include hats, jackets, scarves and belts. Once you've found two of every type of clothing, put the items in two large piles in the party area. Divide the players into two teams and line them up next to the piles of clothes. When you say "Go," the first players on each team have to put on all of the clothing items as fast as they can. Once all of the items are on, the player takes off the clothes and gives them to the next player in line. This continues until all of the players in one team--the winning team--have put on and taken off all of the clothes in their pile.
Guess What?
When your party guests start to crave some food, play this game to satiate or debilitate their appetites. Before you play, gather up some food items that your players like to eat and those that make your players want to throw up, as suggested by the University of Illinois. After you have two of each food item, wrap each piece of food in aluminum foil. Then, take about the 20 items of wrapped-up food and place 10 items in each paper bag. Put each paper bag at one side of the room and divide the players into two teams. Line them up in two lines at the opposite side of the room. When you say "Go," the first player on each team has to run to the other side of the room, grab one food item, unwrap it and eat it. When she's finished consuming the whole piece of food, she runs back to her team and the next player in line performs the same task. The game ends when one team--the winning team--finishes eating every item in the paper bag before the other team.
