Cool Party Game Ideas

Playing a well chosen party game can help everyone get in the spirit of having a good time. Lighthearted games help bond new and old friends, give your party a sense of structure and allow everyone a chance to participate.
  1. Eternal Dodgeball

    • Eternal dodgeball is a fun outdoor game where, unlike traditional dodgeball, there are no teams and each player is competing solely for himself. Once you've been hit or your ball gets caught, you are out. You're allowed back in the game only when the person who took you out gets taken out. To add excitement to the game, if you were holding a ball when you were knocked out, you are not allowed to move once you're back in the game.

    The Adverb Game

    • The adverb game can be played in both naughty or nice versions, depending on the age and preferences of your guests. Remind everyone what an adverb is---a word that modifies something other than a noun---and explain the rules of the game. Enhance the interactive aspect by directing the designated player to leave the room while the group decides on an adverb for that round. Once an appropriate adverb has been decided on, the designated player re-enters and chooses another player to act out the adverb by specifying an activity like "Ask someone out on a date this way." The designated player must guess the adverb to complete the round and then it's the actor's turn to step out for the next round to begin.

    The Lie Detector Game

    • Each guest will write down three statements about himself: two that are true and one that is a complete lie. Guests then take turns reading their statements as if each one were true. The group votes on which statement they believe to be a lie. After telling the group which one is untrue, the speaker can talk about what each statement reveals about him.
