Football parties make watching the big game even more exciting. Food, friends and football make an entertaining party whether or not you're a football fan. Add some football-themed games to the party to keep the guests entertained. The games work well before or after the game and during half time to keep the party moving.

Game-Stat Guessing
- This football party idea makes the game an interactive experience. Create a sheet with several different events in the game. Ideas include the winner of the coin toss, the first touchdown, the team with the first turnover and the first team to take a timeout. The guests fill in which team or player they think will achieve each of the events. As the game progresses, keep track of each event. The guests earn points for each correct guess. The player with the most points at the end of the game wins a prize.
Cheers
- Get the guests into the action by having them play the role of cheerleaders. Divide the guests into groups for the cheerleading competition. The groups can discuss their routines or cheers during the commercial breaks. During halftime, each team performs a cheer for the rest of the guests. The group with the most creative cheer wins the competition. You can assign one non-participating person to judge, or let the guests vote. Make the rule that no one can vote for their own team to make it more fair.
Obstacle Course
- Since football players must be in peak condition, this game tests the party guests to see if they are also in shape. Set up an obstacle course in the backyard. Ideas include tires the guests run through, a refrigerator box tunnel to climb through, cones to weave through and a football-throwing challenge to test their aim. Time the guests as they run through the obstacle course. The fastest time is the winner. The obstacle course can be a warm-up activity before the game or a half-time activity.
Forbidden Word
- This football party game works well for guests of any age. The guests start out with a whistle around their neck. One word is selected as the forbidden word. Choose a football-related word that would naturally occur in a conversation during a football party. Ideas include touchdown, quarterback or score. Anyone caught saying the forbidden word loses his whistle to the person who caught him saying it. The goal is to have the most whistles at the end of the party. This person receives a prize.
