Bon Voyage Party Game Ideas

Bon Voyage parties give guests a chance to spend time with a family member or friend who's preparing to leave for a lengthy amount of time, whether for a vacation or to move away. While some party-goers may get sentimental over not seeing the guest of honor regularly in the near future, Bon Voyage party games may lift their spirits as they prepare to bid their friend adieu.
  1. Customs Hunt

    • In Customs Hunt, guests compete to find the suitcase with a prize inside. The party host hides a prize in one of several suitcases full of clothing. Guests randomly pick a suitcase and search it thoroughly. The guest who finds the prize keeps it (but not the suitcase's other contents.)

    Guess Where

    • Prior to the party, the host sends each guest a country or state that they must identify with on party night. At the party, guests mingle and ask each other yes/no questions that will help them identify the country/state. Once all guests have "interviewed" each other, they write down their guesses for each guest on a piece of paper and submit it to the host. The guest with the most correct guesses wins the game and a prize.

    Quick Pick

    • Guests put their packing skills to the test when playing Quick Pick. The party host gathers items such as clothing and toiletry essentials together on the floor, leaving one for each player. The host gives players a suitcase or travel bag and indicates where each type of item should go in the bag (for instance, clothing in the main middle section, toothbrush and toothpaste in the side compartment, and so on.) Within an allocated time frame, players pack the bag as quickly as possible, placing items in the proper spots. If players finish packing the bag before time elapses, the host checks that the guest put the items in the proper spots. Whichever player packed the bag accurately and in the shortest amount of time wins the game. If a guest put an item in the wrong spot, the next player with the fastest time, who put all the items in the correct spot, wins the game and a prize.

    This is Your Life

    • Party-goers help the guest of honor take a stroll down memory lane by adding a quiz element to This is Your Life. The host asks guests to contribute artwork, photos and video, trophies and any other items key to the their relationship with the guest of honor. At the party, all guests converge in living room and the host shows each contribution to the guest of honor, who tries identifying key facts in regards to the item. For instance, for a photo, the guest of honor identifies everyone in the photo, where and when the photo was taken and the circumstances/event in which the photo was taken. Guests who made contributions may add additional insight for each memory.

    Who Said What

    • Before the guest of honor arrives, party-goers use permanent felt-tip pens and write personal messages on a white pillowcase. With the guest of honor present, guests converge in one spot and one person reads each message aloud to the guest, who does not look at the pillow case. After hearing a message, the guest of honor must guess who wrote it. After the game concludes, the guest of honor gets to keep the pillow as a memento.
