Making a Shuffleboard Table
Begin by building legs for your table. Round off the edges of two 4 by 4 posts with a router. The legs should be 22.5 inches each; after you cut them down to size, insert a dado in each leg by putting a straight bit in your router.
Make two plywood pieces from a 3/4-inch board. Each piece should be 15 1/2 by 20 1/2 inches. One piece fits into the front side of the table legs and the other into the back.
Next, work on your cradle, or table frame. This piece is essentially a box. Cut a 1-by- 6-inch, 12- foot plywood board into pieces. Attach four 25-inch pieces to make the box. Lay strips across the box to strengthen it. Screw the legs into the box to make the table.
Finally, measure the box and cut a piece of MDF board to size. Put it on top of the table and paint in the shuffleboard lines. When the paint dries, put clear finish over the entire board for a classier look.
