Christian Party Game Ideas

In order to help break the ice at a party, it's always a good idea to have a few games on hand for those attending to play. However, it's also important to make sure that the games available fit the party and the reason that everyone's gathered together. For Christian parties, for instance, it's never a bad idea to have a few entertaining but spiritually themed activities planned for the night.
  1. Outburst Bible Edition

    • A Christian-themed version of the classic board game Outburst, this edition is a good addition to any Christian party. This game is fairly simple. A group is split into two, separate teams and the teams each have to guess the top 10 answers to a certain subject in 60 seconds. A card will be drawn with a subject such as "Names for Christ," the timer will be set, and then the team answering the question will rattle off as many answers as they can think of before the time limit is up. The score is added up, and then the positions are reversed, with the next team being given a different theme. This game is loud and fun, with participants getting to show off their biblical literacy.

    Bible Jeopardy

    • This particular game takes a little bit of setup, but it's generally a well received trivia game. Bible Jeopardy is set up just like the game show Jeopardy; there are several categories presented (such as "Books of the Bible" or "Biblical Celebrities") and within those categories are answers (such as "the boy who slew Goliath with a sling stone"). Participants have to phrase their answer in the form of a question ("Who was David?" for instance), and they're awarded a certain number of points according to the topic they answered. Questions should be made up in advance, and small prizes such as candy are always appropriate gifts for the winners.

    Bible Charades

    • Charades is one of the oldest party games, and most people understand the basic rules. One person must stand up in front of a group of people, and try to convey a word to the audience using only hand gestures and pantomime. This game can be easily turned into a Christian themed game by assigning the person making the hand gestures a biblical topic. Before the game starts it's a good idea to set out certain rules about which hand gestures mean "sounds like," or which gestures refer to certain biblical books. It gives the game some speed, and it stops players from getting bogged down in minute details.
