Ball Games
Bouncy balls can be amusing for toddlers who are building muscles and learning hand-eye coordination. For very young toddlers, you can play a modified version of catch by having them sit on the ground in a circle and roll a ball back and forth between one another. If your toddlers are already skilled at rolling the ball, place a large basket outside and have them practice throwing the ball into the basket. Give toddlers old enough to follow directions a small ball and shout instructions such as "hide the ball" or "jump with the ball." They will have fun following your instructions without dropping the ball on the ground.
Water Games
Water games might cause too much of a splash indoors for most parents, but they can provide an array of activities for a party outside. Grab a toy tea set and fill up a bucket of water for a tea party. Have toddlers take turns filling the teapot and pouring the tea into the cups. Set up an outdoor car wash with several ride-on vehicles and toy cars. Then give children spray bottles, rags, sponges and baby soap to let them wash off the toys. You can even set up an outdoor water park by filling some containers with water and putting out measuring cups, funnels and spoons for the children to explore. Be sure to warn parents about the outdoor water play so that they dress their kids to be wet and possibly dirty.
Hunting
Toddlers love to search for and find various items. Hide several small items in a limited area outside. It is best to choose one type of item to hide, such as sweets or tiny toys. Give children paper cups or small containers and let them collect items and put them in the container. Choose an item that the kids can keep so that they leave with their found prizes.
