The Dating Game Office Party Ideas

As office parties can be dry events, met with reluctance and dread, a few lively games can liven up the party so all guests enjoy themselves. Because the majority of the week is spent in work mode with your co-workers, it is healthy to shake things up occasionally and have fun with your fellow workers. The trick is to have fun while still remembering that work friends are not the same as other friends, and a level of professionalism will still need to be maintained. Likewise, while dating games can be effective ice breakers and lively, it is likely best to more involve friends, spouses and significant others in the games than mainly your co-workers. Outsiders acting as buffers will be the only way the games can be played without possible regrets come Monday morning.
  1. The Dating Game Show

    • Play off the classic television dating game show, the Dating Game, with an office spin. Choose three contestants to sit behind a wall or screen, a host and a player. The host would ideally be the boss of the office. Have the other, nonplaying employees choose questions for the host to ask on behalf of the date-choosing player. These should be humorous, silly and nonserious questions. It is best to play this game for fun as opposed to actual date-choosing, as interoffice dating is often frowned upon. At the end of the question-and-answer session, the player chooses the one of the three contestants who has the best answers. This game will serve as a humorous and engaging ice breaker for an office party.

    Choosing the Players

    • How you choose the players of the dance will depend heavily on the dynamics of the office itself. The most casual and the least dramatic way to choose contestants and the primary "dater" would be to draw names out of a hat. If your group is a lively and amicable bunch, consider voting to place people in the four players positions. The hand selection of players could result in some extra laughs and the highlighting of the real characters of the office. If your group is up to this method of choosing players, this could translate into an even more entertaining experience.

    Setting the Scene

    • Research the set of the actual show through the Internet. Use a cubicle or some presentation boards to separate the three contestants from the primary dater. Use wrapping paper to line the walls and write "The Dating Game" on construction paper.Cut some 70s style flowers and attach them to the wall as well. Play some 1970s tunes on a stereo and ask party guests to come dressed in 1970s business attire.
