Outdoor Safari Party Games for Kids

A safari-themed party will have kids feeling like they're little explorers. That's why it's important to have outdoor games--to facilitate their imaginations and bring out the theme. There are lots of outdoor safari games that children will love; you can easily set them up and play.
  1. Peanut Hunt

    • Before the party begins, go outside and hide a bunch of peanuts. Give each child a sand pail and tell them to act like elephants and go in search of their peanuts. The kid with the most peanuts wins a prize.

    Hungry Lions

    • Choose one or two people to be the "lions." Let everyone scatter around as the "antelopes." The lions chase the antelopes. Those who are caught by a lion must freeze with their legs in a straddle position. They can be unfrozen when someone goes under their legs. The game can go on until everyone has been caught or the kids get tired.

    Monkey See, Monkey Do

    • Play an animal version of Simon Says called "Monkey See, Monkey Do." Have one person act as the "monkey." They instruct everyone what to do. But the guests are only to do what the person says when they use the phrase "monkey see, monkey do" before the command.

    Hanging Apple

    • Hang apples from trees and have guests try to eat the apple like a giraffe. Turn it into a competition by having everyone do it at the same time and see who can finish their apple first. Have them place their hands behind their backs so you're sure they only use their mouths.
