NFL Trivia Games

The National Football League is the most popular sports league in the U.S., with tens of millions of viewers tuning in every week of football season to watch 32 teams vying for the coveted Super Bowl championship. Many fans pride themselves on their knowledge of a given team or player, and you can add some fun to your tailgating party with an NFL-based trivia game.
  1. Basic Quizzes

    • You can create your own trivia game by coming up with questions, or by buying a book for trivia questions and asking them of your fellow fans. All trivia games consist of a series of questions--either presented as a straight question, or with multiple choice answers--which players must answer correctly in turn. The player who correctly answers the most questions wins. You can proceed on a turn-by-turn basis--positing one question to one particular player and giving him a set amount of time to answer it before moving to the next player--or set up a "buzzer" system whereby the first person who knows the answer can signal for the first chance to answer it. Both methods prevent players from shouting answers over each other, making it easy to determine who answered what (and thus accurately keep score). You may also wish to grade questions based on how difficult they are: assigning higher points to tougher questions and basing victory on a final score rather than the number of questions answered correctly.

    NFL Gridiron Trivia Challenge

    • NFL Gridiron Trivia Challenge attempts to emulate the give and take of an NFL football game. Players divide into two teams, battling each other for supremacy by answering trivia questions. The board consists of a number of spaces that each team can control through trivia knowledge; strategy enters play through blocking your opponents defensively, then seizing the initiative when you are on offense. The winner is the team that can dominate the board. The game contains approximately 1,500 questions broken down into five different categories: Offense, Defense, Audibles, Teams and Honors.

    Pro Football's Extreme Gameday Trivia

    • Like Gridiron Trivia Challenge, Extreme Gameday Trivia attempts to recreate the feeling of an actual football game. The board resembles a field, and the trivia questions are used to complete certain tasks (such as throwing a pass). When you answer correctly, your team moves farther down the field to score, or you stop the other player's team in an effort to get the ball back. That lends the game a sense of ebb and flow: choosing which play to make can be as important as answering the question correctly.
