Game Ideas for a 60th Birthday Party

A 60th birthday party is a milestone event for the guest of honor, but it can be difficult to think of games that will cater to everyone invited. Fortunately, there are several ideas that can be customized to suit large or small parties of adults and children alike. Keep in mind what your birthday person would enjoy, or consult her directly to find out which games she would prefer.
  1. Murder Mystery Night

    • Hosting a murder mystery-themed 60th birthday party is a fun idea if you have anywhere from eight to sixteen guests at a party, though it can be played with more. Party kits are available either in a boxed set or to be downloaded online. These kits outline how to play, character backgrounds and provide a guide for the host. These parties are a novel way to get all of your party guests to interact. See the "Resources" section of this article for more information about murder mystery parties and how to order one.

    Card Games

    • Card games are an easy option when it comes to parties, as they require few supplies and can be played with varying numbers of people. Games like rummy, Texas hold̵7;em poker, hearts or euchre are old favorites. Click on the "Purple Trail" link in the "Resources" section of this article for instructions for individual games. If you have more than six people at the party, consider breaking into groups of even numbers and holding a knockout tournament during the party.

    Bingo

    • Bingo can be a fun game to play in a group, particularly at a large party. Make cards on your computer and print off enough for each party guest. For bingo rules, see the "Bingo Rules" link in the "Resources" section of this article.

    Wii

    • The Nintendo Wii can be a great way to liven up any party and get people involved, especially if there is a wide age range in attendance. Consider games like Wii Sports or Sing It, which can be played in teams or tournament-style, depending on how many people are at the party. Ask all of your guests to bring their own Wii remotes, if they have them, so even more people can participate at one time.
