Rockstar Birthday Party Game Ideas

If your child wants a rockstar themed birthday party, you will need to choose some appropriate games to keep the little rockers entertained. Get creative and make things yourself if you are on a budget. Kids have good imaginations and will be able to pretend that a hairbrush is a microphone. Remember to get some rockstar themed prizes for the winners.
  1. Karaoke Contest

    • Buy, rent or borrow a karaoke machine if you don't have one already and have your guests pick a song to sing to. Not all the guests need to play if they don't want to. Let the other guests be judges, or put slips of paper with the contestants names on them and throw them in a bowl to draw a random winner. Give the winner and two runners up a rockstar themed prize.

    Freeze Dance

    • All you need for this game is a radio to play some kid-safe rock music and plenty of room for the "dance floor." Play the music for a minute or two at a time and let the children dance around. Stop the music without warning and whoever is still moving the longest after the music stops has to sit out. The last child on the dance floor wins a prize.

    Name That Song

    • You will need to gather up some songs or 20 second clips of modern, kid-safe songs that you know most of the children will know. Play each clip and have the kids try to guess what song its from. Keep a tally of which child identified the most songs and that child is the winner.

    Music Video

    • Separate the children into two or more groups, and take each group into separate rooms so they won't know what the other group or groups are doing. Let the kids make up their own dance or lip sync routine to a song of their choice and allow them a limited time such as 20 or 30 minutes to practice their routine. Make a video of each group's routine and email it to each of the guests' parents after the party so they can remember it.

    Guitars

    • Buy a large piece of poster board for each small guest that will be attending the party. Trace the shape of an electric guitar on each poster board so that it is big enough for the kids to pretend to play like a real guitar and cut each one out. At the party give each kid the guitar cut outs and let them personalize their guitars with glitter, glue and washable markers and have them write their names on them to keep. Put on some kid-safe guitar music and let the kids "play" their guitars after they've dried.
