Making the Corn Hole Platform
According to the American Cornhole Association, each corn hole platform (two are required for a proper game) must be designed in a rectangular shape measuring 48 by 24 inches. The platform is made of half-inch plywood, which can be found at most home improvement stores.
The hole in the middle of the platform must be six inches wide, placed exactly nine inches from the top and one foot (12 inches) from each platform edge. Corn hole platforms are not flat; they are actually trapezoidal boxes. A proper corn hole platform will rise two and a half inches from the bottom to the top; the top and back sides form a 90-degree angle. This will make the back side of the platform one foot high.
Adding Corn Hole Bags
Each bean bag you create should be approximately six inches square. Simply cut two pieces of fabric to size (add one to two inches for seams), and stitch together three sides of the bag. Fill each bag with two cups of corn feed and stitch up the fourth side. It's best to use bright, easy-to-see fabric. Create at least six bags for your corn hole game.
Creating the Corn Hole Playing Court
No corn hole game is complete without the playing court. Make sure the ground where you intend to play the game is nice and level. You'll need a space that's at least 45 feet long and 10 feet wide. Often, pitcher boxes measuring four feet by three feet are marked out on the ground. This is where players stand to make their tosses. It's best to tamp down or cut grass very closely to create a smooth playing surface.
Perfecting the Game
Make your corn hole game perfect by adding a few finishing touches to the two wooden platforms. Completely sand the surface of each platform until it's smooth to the touch. You may also want to use latex paint to create a smooth surface for the bags. Latex paint is smooth but not slippery, so bags will stay in place once they've been tossed.
