Games to Play at a Party with Prizes

Party games are always fun, and the promise of prizes make the games a little more competitive and a lot more fun. Sometimes it can be hard to come up with a list of games to play that will work well with the guests who will be attending the party.
  1. Party Games that are Fun for All Ages

    • If you are planning a party that will include guests of all ages, the skill level of the games will need to fall on the easier end of the spectrum. You will need games that are just as easy for your 5-year-old niece as they are for your 80-year-old grandpa.

Balloon pop: Each guest is given an inflated balloon. The first person to pop a balloon wins a prize. The only rule is that there can be no tools used during the game. Stomp the balloon, squeeze the balloon or even sit on the balloon but no poking it with your earring or stabbing it with a pair of scissors. (Be sure that any children playing this game are closely supervised as balloons pose a choking hazard.)

Puzzle race: Each guest is given a puzzle (which can double as a party gift if you let your guests take the puzzles home.) When the host yells "go" the party members must race against each other to be the first to finish their puzzle.

Staring tournament: Guests are broken into pairs. The host says "go" and the pairs stair at their partners until one of the pair blinks, laughs or looks away. Winners are paired with other winners and the process is repeated until only two remain. The final two compete against each other and the winner gets a prize.

Storytellers: Guests are broken into pairs and given a notebook and pen. The host sets a timer and each pair has a specified amount of time to come up with a funny story about the host of the party. When the timer sounds, the pairs take turns reading their stories. Upon hearing all of the stories, the guests can vote by silent ballot (no voting for yourself!) or the host can pick the winner.

Might I bite? This is a game from Family Fun in which guests are given an animal identity that is taped to their forehead. Everyone else can see the animal name except the person wearing it. Guests have to ask questions of other guests (such as might I bite, can I fly, etc.) to determine what animal they have been assigned. The winner is the first to determine their own animal identity.
