Pin the Bow on the Baby
Pin the Bow on the Baby is a play on the classic Pin the Tail on the Donkey game. Blow up a large picture of your child. Print out pictures of different hair bows that are large enough to be proportionate to the picture of the baby. Place double-sided tape on the back of the bows. Blindfold the party guests. Spin the first guest and have him try to put the bow on the baby's head. Continue with the rest of the guests. Do not blindfold the birthday girl or other kids her age.
Baby Food Taste Test
Blindfold the party guests for a taste test. Use baby food rather than normal food. The pureed food will have a smooth consistency, making the taste test harder than food with a texture. If the 1-year-old or her guests can talk, let them guess what type of food they taste. This game is also fun for older children who no longer eat baby food.
Dance Party Freeze
Turn on music the birthday girl loves and have all the party guests dance. Turn the music off, and everyone must freeze. This may be hard for the party girl to understand. Explain to her to "stop" or "freeze." Begin playing the music again so everyone begins dancing again. Continue this cycle. The birthday girl will pick up on the game when she sees everyone has stopped dancing.
Guessing Game
Fill a glass jar with your baby's favorite dried food, such as cereal or crackers. Count the number of snacks that are placed in the jar, then have the guests guess the number. This game is for the older guests, but the younger guests can partake in the food after the guesses have been made.
