Football Party Activities

Whether you're hosting a football party for kids or adults, organize a variety of physically and mentally challenging activities to keep the guests entertained. By combining attention-grabbing games with football-themed decorations and refreshments, you're sure to score a touchdown with your guests. When choosing the party activities, consider factors like the number of guests, the party location and the amount of time and money you have to spend.
  1. Gridiron Obstacle Course

    • If you're hosting the party outdoors, help your guests feel like real players with football-themed games that test athletic skills. See how long it takes each guest to complete a course that features tire obstacles, low hurdles and targets to knock down with a football, for example. Give prizes like sports bottles, mini helmets or colorful wristbands to winners in different age brackets if children and adults want to play the game.

    Find the Football

    • Set up football party games for the kids like a simple sticker treasure hunt. Hide 30 to 40 football-shaped stickers throughout the house or yard. Tell the kids to gather as many stickers as they can in one minute, and award prizes like football-shaped erasers, foam footballs or notepads to the players who collect the most. If you want to splurge on more extravagant party favors, draw stars on five of the stickers, and give the kids who find those an additional toy or gift card as a bonus.

    Pre-Game Poll

    • Ask guests to make predictions about the football game if you're hosting a party for an event like the Super Bowl. List game-related questions on a piece of paper and make a photocopy for each guest. Ask participants to guess which team will make the first touchdown, first field goal, first penalty and first fumble, for example. Also, ask guests to fill in their predictions for the final score as a tiebreaker in case several players get the same number of predictions right. To play this game successfully, you or a guest will have to be watching the game at all times to ensure you don't miss any of the events discussed on the questionnaire.

    Team Spirit Craft

    • When the kids or adults want to take a break from the game, let them complete a football party craft activity to show their team spirit. Cut pieces of fun foam in a variety of colors into long, pennant-shaped triangles. Provide markers, paint and an assortment of embellishments like foam shapes, buttons, letter stickers and football die cuts for the guests to create a pennant dedicated to their favorite team. Attach three pieces of magnetic adhesive to the back of each project so the guests can hang the flags on the refrigerator at home.
