Murder Mystery
A murder mystery game is an entertaining way to structure a sleepover party. Whether you purchase a boxed murder mystery game for teens that lays out the story line and clues or hire a murder mystery party planner who will bring in a cast of characters and organize and narrate the teen mystery, both teen boys and girls will love to be part of this grand adventure.
An easier take on the murder game will inspire giggles and gasps. Cut a slip of paper for every guest. On one slip, write "Murderer," and leave the rest blank. Pass out the paper slips while warning the players not to show anyone what her slip says. Then state the rules: The lights will go out and the person with the 'Murderer' slip must tap other guests to "kill them." Murdered guests must lie down. This will continue for a few minutes, then the lights will be turned back on. Guests must then guess who the murderer is. Any guest who identifies the murderer wins a prize.
Flashlight Tag
Break your overnight guests into two teams, the red team and the blue team, and give each team member a T-shirt in their team's color. Draw a big X on the front and back with reflective tape you can get at a sporting goods store.
When the sun goes down, arm each player with a flashlight and send the teams to opposite ends of your yard or other area where there are plenty of places to hide and run. Start a flashlight tag game in which once a player's X is lit up he's out of the game. Last player standing wins for his team.
Fashion Designer
Break teen girls into groups of three and provide them with newspaper, duct tape and scissors. Each team is to designate a model and the other two will create a fashion outfit out of the paper and tape. Give each team a half hour to complete the outfit. Remind them to include accessories like purses, hats and shoes.
Once each team is done, have any parents who are present judge a fashion show and vote for the best outfit. Have as many winning categories as you have teams so that every team wins something. For instance, have a prize for most original, best use of tape and runway attitude.
