Fun Games to Play at a Party

When you host a party, you need to have a few exciting party games to keep guests entertained and having fun. When you begin playing your party games, it is a good idea to play games that allow many different people to play so no one feels left out.
  1. Charades

    • Charades is the good party game to use for a group of people. Depending on how many people you have, you can decide if you have two or more teams. Once the teams are created, decide which team goes first. Have each team write down movies, television shows, book titles or other phrases on small pieces of paper. Using the ideas that the other team has written down, have an opposing team select a piece of paper. Timing begins when they begin acting out their clue by gesturing and acting out their item without speaking.

Have someone in charge of timing each clue, and keeping score. Decide how long they have to act out their clue, anywhere from 3 to 5 minutes should be sufficient. If the team guesses the clue, they receive a point. It's then the next team's turn. The first team to 10 points wins.

    Apples to Apples

    • One fun party game that has been very popular in the last few years is the card game of Apples to Apples. Players are dealt five apple cards to begin the game. In each round, one player is designated as the judge, and must roll a die to decide which word, on a drawn green apple card, is the word of the round. The judge reads the word and all the remaining players must select one of their five apple cards that they believe matches or relates to the word the best and give it to the judge face down.

The judge reads all the apple cards that were submitted and then decides which word he likes as the best match. The player that submitted the card that the judge selects gets to keep the green apple card. The next round has another player as the judge, and play continues until one player accumulates four green apple cards. This player wins the game.

    Trivial Pursuit

    • There are several versions of trivia that range in questions for each game. Form teams with two the three players each. Using a trivial pursuit board game, teams take turns rolling dice and moving their game piece to try to obtain pie pieces. Each colored square on a trivia board stands for a specific category of question. By answering questions correctly, your team earns a pie piece by landing on the appropriate square on the game board. Once your team has accumulated one colored piece for each category, they win the game.
