Party Games
Many girls like playing dress up, and incorporating it into a birthday theme works well. The girls can come dressed in a favorite dress or princess costume. During the party, there can be a special dress-up time when the girls get a shawl, gloves and crown to wear. The gloves and crown can be purchased items that are given the girls. The shawl can be made out of sheer fabric that is purchased and cut into the appropriate length for the girls.
Create a nail salon area and have an adult or teenager paint each of the girls' nails in the color they choose. Purchase quick-drying polish and paint one coat to speed the drying the process. Nail embellishments and stickers can be added to give a glamorous look.
If the girls don't come dressed in princess outfits, create a dress-up area that includes several outfits, shoes, crowns and wigs. Let the girls spend time trying on the different outfits and playing "princess." A photo session provides a fun remembrance of the party.
One princess game is to hide a fancy shoe and play "Find Cinderella's Slipper". Other items, such as rings, bracelets and necklaces can also be hidden. Give the girls clues to where to find the next hidden item, and the final clue will be the slipper.
Create a variation of "Pin the Tail on the Donkey" by playing "Pin the Hands on Cogsworth," the clock from "Beauty and the Beast." Another variation is to play "Pin the Accessories on the Princess." Set up a large picture of a princess and have the children put the crown, gloves, wand, necklace and earrings in the correct spots. The children can be in two groups, and the group that was the closest to the correct spot wins. Blindfolding the children for any of these games makes it more entertaining.
Party Crafts
Decorating a crown is a fun craft to include in the party. Instead of purchasing crowns for each child, purchase plain foam or plastic crowns. Each girl can decorate her crown with jewels, puff paint and ribbon.
Creating a bracelet or necklace gives each girl princess jewels to wear. Purchase beads and elastic string and let each girl design her jewelry. The elastic is easy to use because no clasps are needed.
Party Favors
A party favor bag can be given to each girl when she leaves the party. If you are supplying jewelry, crowns and accessories, the bag does not need much added. Instead, decorate the bags with each girl's name and add several princess-theme candies and a lip gloss. When the party is over, the girls can put their princess accessories in the bag.
