About Tug of War

Tug of war is a group game that involves two sets of people each pulling at opposite ends of a rope. The winner of the game is determined based on the particular set of rules determined at the start of the game. It is popular among children, though it is played by people of all ages.

    • Tug of war began as early as Ancient Egyptian times, with hieroglyphics showing young men engaged in a rope-free version of the sport found in a tomb.
