Things You'll Need
Instructions
Cut the box in half along a diagonal. Discard the top or use it to make a second bean bag toss game. You will have a large triangle shape with two remaining sides of the box. This will be the base of the bean bag game.
Cut the poster board to completely cover the open space in the box. The poster board will form the third side of the triangle from the bottom and side of the cut box.
Use the poster paints or markers to draw a large clown face over the entire poster. Make sure that you have a large open mouth about the size of a small teacup saucer and two eyes that are slightly smaller. You will cut out both of the eyes and the mouth to throw the bean bags through so these do not need to be colored.
Cut out the open mouth and the two eyes with the utility knife.
Tape the poster board on all four sides with the clown facing outward on top of the box, forming the third side. The clown face will be at an angle.
Make the bean bags by folding a 4" x 2" piece of cloth in half along the length. If there is a pattern on the cloth, it will be inside the fold since the cloth will be turned inside out before you put the beans in.
Sew three sides of the cloth using a back stitch with the needle and thread.
Fold the bag inside out so that the pattern is visible.
Put enough beans or rice into the bag until it is full, but leave at least 1/4 inch at the end of space so that you can stitch the remaining end shut.
Stitch the open end of the bean bag with a back stitch or a whip stitch. Make sure that the stitches are close enough so that none of the beans or rice will fall out. Repeat with the remaining pieces of cloth until the desired number of bean bags have been made.
Play the bean bag game by tossing the bean bags at the clown's face, aiming for the holes in the eyes and mouth. Award 10 points for getting the bag into either of the eye holes and five points for getting the bag into the mouth. You can change the points values if desired. Pull the bean bags that made it through the holes out of the box by reaching into the box through the mouth hole.
