How to Play the Psychic Card Trick

This is a great trick to play with a friend at parties or other occasions. It takes a very long time for people to figure out what's going on, if they ever do. As long as you and a partner know the trick well, it can be pulled off flawlessly, and the entire group will think you have a psychic connection.

Things You'll Need

  Instruct your partner beforehand to hold his thumb on the deck of cards in the position of the card the crowd selects. In the caption, the thumb would be on the upper right card, and a glance will tell the "psychic" which card they have chosen.

  Lay out nine cards on the floor or a table, in rows of three, as shown in the picture. Have the "psychic" leave the room, and tell the crowd to pick one of the cards.

  When he re-enters the room, the other person will hold her thumb on the deck of cards, as explained in step 2, in correlation with the card position picked by the crowd. The "psychic" will be able to pick the correct card, every time.
