How to Play the Marshmallow on a String Game

Parties are often defined by the creative games planned by the host or hostess. Often, the simpler the game, the more memorable it is. The "Marshmallow on a String" game is one such simple game that can be enjoyed by young and old. It is a favorite game for birthday and Halloween parties as well as at picnics.

Things You'll Need

Large marshmallows
Thread
Long sewing needle
Scissors

Instructions

  Measure and cut a thread into yard-long pieces. You will need one piece of thread for every two players.

  Use the needle to sew one piece of thread through the center of a large marshmallow. Center the marshmallow on the piece of thread.

  Divide the group into pairs. Give each pair one of the marshmallows that has been centered on a piece of thread.

  Explain that on the count of three, players must put an end of the thread in their mouth, then put their hands behind their backs. Using only their lips and tongues, players must take up the thread into their mouths.

  Watch for the first player of each team to devour his marshmallow and declare that person the winner of each team.

  Pair the winners of round 1, and repeat the game until there is one final winner.
