How to Make Your Own Heroscape Storyline

"Heroscape" is an expandable turn-based war game that uses interlocking tile pieces and miniature figurines. Since the game incorporates characters from different time periods as well as fictional universes, it can sometimes be difficult to create a coherent storyline that would place all the combatants on the same battlefield. Nonetheless, all it takes is a little imagination and a few creative scenario rules to put together an original "Heroscape" storyline.

Instructions

    • 1

Create a scenario that includes a setting and involves at least two opposing sides. For example, you could create a inter-dimensional gladiator-type scenario in which numerous characters from different worlds are captured and placed in a Colosseum-style arena to amuse a rich and powerful emperor by fighting against his troop of armed guards.

    • 2

Include scenario rules. The most common scenario rule is to simply eliminate the opposing force, but you can modify this rule by adding a time limit or turn limit. Additional scenario rules include capture the flag, rescue the hostage, protect the king and secure the location.

    • 3

Select the number of players. Most games of "Heroscape" are designed for two to four players. However, if you have a lot of time, space, and game pieces, you can include more players.

    • 4

Choose characters for each side. You might want to impose restrictions on the type of characters to be used in the storyline. For instance, in a gladiator-type scenario, you might want to strictly use characters that are from the "Roman Legion" set or "Gladiators &Agents" set. It's also a good idea to include point restrictions for armies so that players have an equal chance of winning.

    • 5

Build the battleground. "Heroscape" uses game tiles that allow you to customize the battleground to accommodate almost any scenario you like. Try to make a battleground that represents the setting of your storyline. A gladiator storyline, for instance, would likely take place in an arena with high walls and a lot of open space. The size of the battleground should be determined by the number of players and size of each player's army.

Play the game and battle your opponent(s) to determine the outcome of your "Heroscape" storyline.
