How to Level a Monk in D&D 3.5

The Monk is one of the most powerful basic classes in "Dungeons and Dragons" 3.5. Despite not being able to wear armor and being severely limited in the weapons he is allowed to use, the Monk gains so many other bonuses that he is easily able to hold his own against characters and creatures at or even above his own level. These bonuses and abilities need to be added to the Monk's character sheet every time he gains one at level up.

Instructions

    • 1

Distribute any skill and attribute points among your Monk's skills and stats. Each level-up will bring a set amount of skill points determined by your Monk's intelligence bonus. Every fourth level-up will also earn you an extra attribute point with which to increase one of your Monk's six main stats.

    • 2

Increase your save modifiers. The Monk's will, fortitude and reflex saves each increase by one at level two and at every second level afterwards.

    • 3

Increase your base attack bonus (BAB). The monk gains +1 to his BAB at every level except the 5th, 9th, 13th and 17th.

    • 4

Add any new special abilities or powers to your Monk's character sheet. The monk gains a new ability or power at every level. Consult your Players Handbook to determine the exact name and nature of said power or ability.

    • 5

Add new HP and Feats. Monks have d8 hit dice, which means they can gain up to 8 additional HP on every level-up. They also gain new feats at every third level as with all classes, plus bonus feats at levels one, two and six.
