Things You'll Need
Instructions
Set up a workstation for painting your miniature. Lay down a large sheet of newspaper to protect your work surface. If you can, set up your painting station in an area that has lots of natural light---artificial light. Also, lay out your paints, water, brushes and other supplies so they can be easily accessed as you work.
Prime the entire figurine with an undercoat. There are many different undercoats to choose from including black, green and white. Use a basecoat that is suitable for the type of figure you are painting. For example, if you are painting an animal, use a brown base coat that will blend into the skin color. Spray the entire model with the undercoat and let it dry before you begin adding colored details.
Paint the skin, fur and weapons with the appropriate colors first, after applying the basecoat. Since these areas are quite large, use a larger brush to apply the paint. The more layers of paint you apply, the less visible the base coat will be. Continue layering paint until you have the desired color.
Paint the clothes, pouches, and other accessories once you have painted the larger areas. Use a smaller brush to paint these areas. Again, the more layers of paint you apply, the less the basecoat shows through.
Finish the model by painting the tiny details and the base. Set the model aside to dry completely.
