List of Dungeons & Dragons Type Games

Dungeons &Dragons was a pioneering fantasy game published in 1974 that then gave rise to the role-playing game industry. In role-playing games, players immerse themselves in the roles of characters that they create within the framework of a fictional game world. Players' actions are directed by the referee, who is known as the game master. Games typically take place around a table with the aid of game books, pencils, paper and dice.

Earthdawn
- Earthdawn is a fantasy role-playing game that takes place in the past in an Earth-like world populated by humans, dwarves, elves, orcs, trolls and several different races of humanoids. The main action is set in the independent region of Barsaive as the characters try to protect themselves against entities called the Horrors and the enemy Theran Empire. Magic is present in this fictional world.
Vampire: The Masquerade
- Vampire: The Masquerade takes place in the present but in a dark fictional setting of decay and despair, called the World of Darkness, where the vampires live in a society parallel to their human neighbors. In this game players can choose from different types of vampires, belonging to different groups and possessing different abilities. Magic exists in this setting but not everyone is able to use it. The game focuses on the interactions between the different vampires. Other role-playing games like Mage, Werewolf and Changeling also use the World of Darkness setting and system.
The Lord of the Rings Roleplaying Game
- The Lord of the Rings Roleplaying Game is a fantasy game based on the books of J.R.R. Tolkien. The game takes place in the books' fictional Middle-Earth setting. Like Dungeons &Dragons, players can choose their characters' races, such as humans, dwarves, elves and hobbits as well as different character classes, like warrior, magician, rogue, noble and craftsman.
Shadowrun
- Shadowrun is a futuristic role-playing game in the cyberpunk genre. The setting is one of high technology, crime and magic with ruthless, competing megacorporations playing a starring role. In the game players can choose characters from different races, such as humans, orcs and trolls, and whether to be outfitted with cybernetics and nanotechnology implants. Some characters also have access to magic. The Shadowrun game focuses on the characters' interactions and attempts to survive in the hostile fictional world.

Role Playing Games
