How to Kill a Sim in Sims 3

Sims 3 allows you to create characters and guide them through life. The game doesn't stop after death, however. Sims can be brought back to life as a variety of different ghosts and continue to function as though they were still alive. In order to unlock these different styles of ghosts, you must first kill your Sim in one of a variety of different ways.

  Drown your Sim by building a pool and imprisoning them within it. In the first Sim game, you could drown you characters by building a pool and removing the ladder. Sims in Sims 3 have gotten smarter. They no longer need a ladder to climb out, but you can still kill them by building a pool, telling them to swim, then going to "Build Mode" and building a cement wall along the edge of the pool. Sims who die from drowning will have a blue ghost and may refuse to go near water.

  Kill your Sim by electrocution. Go to "Buy Mode" and purchase a sprinkler under "Outdoor Activities." Place the sprinkler in your house and turn it on. The floors will now become soaked in water. Next, buy an electronic item, such as a TV or radio. Place the item in the middle of the wet puddle, then click on the object and tell your Sim to "Tinker." Inexperienced handy men will get an electric shock first leaving them "Singed." Have your Sim continue to tinker, and the next time they get shocked they'll die. Sims who die from electrocution will have a yellow ghost.

  Kill your Sim with fire. Buy the cheapest stove from "Buy Mode" and a large rug. Place the rug underneath the stove and tell your Sim to cook something. Cancel the interaction to cook and eventually the food will start smoking and burst into flames. Rugs are extra flammable, so the fire will spread and eventually catch your Sim on fire. If you have Sims 3: Ambition, Sims can also be caught on fire at random when they're inventing or sculpting. Sims who die from fire will have an orange ghost and wish to shower more than usual.

  Kill your Sim by starvation. Lock your Sim in a room without food and after two Sim days they will die. It's important to make sure you Sim is trapped in a room for this to work. If they're simply in a home without a fridge or oven, they can leave and get food at a restaurant or a friends home. Sims who die of starvation will have a white ghost and will want to eat constantly.

  Kill your Sim by meteor shower. Have your Sim spend their free time outside or looking through a telescope. After a while, you will get an event telling you that the sky suddenly got dark. A few seconds later, a meteor will hit your Sim in the head and kill them. Sims who die from a meteor shower are red and orange. This death option is only available in Sims 3: Ambition.
